Richard Carvath is 34 (born Manchester, 1976). He lives and works in the Salford and Eccles constituency and has lived in the City of Salford since 1987. Richard was schooled locally at Moorside High School and Eccles College. He regularly attends political and community meetings and events in Salford and Eccles.
Richard has 12 years of experience as a frontline social campaigner and political activist and undertakes local, national and international casework. He has extensive experience as a writer and researcher and he is the author of numerous book chapters, blogs and essays on a broad range of important social and political issues.
Richard is particularly noted for Pro-Life and Pro-Family activism and as a social justice and free speech champion. Despite death threats Richard opposes brothels, traffickers, pornographers and militant fanatics from various radical religious and political groups.
Richard has experience of various employments and businesses. He currently operates an industrial cleaning business and is an expert in the application of hazardous chemical processes in awkward access situations.
Richard is also a skilled musician and has performed and recorded with several bands. Outside politics he is into rock-climbing, boxing, reading and music. Richard became a committed Christian 12 years ago and cites William Wilberforce as his greatest political inspiration from British history.
Richard contested the Salford and Eccles constituency as an Independent parliamentary candidate in the 2010 General Election. Richard received 384 votes (0.92% of the votes cast). Richard intends to stand in the next General Election.
